I've had MS now for 32 years and started swimming laps every day (except weekends!) since then. The disease has progressed to the point that now I'm mostly in a wheelchair but that's essentially all the progress it's made. It's awful not to be able to walk, but I'm very thankful I still have the full use of the rest of my body. So when I swim, my legs essentially just come along for the ride--I can't kick but the water does hold them up. At one time I felt they were pulling me down but I think it was a matter of "mind over body." I got over that temporary fear that I was going to drown and kept swimming. I believe it's been God and swimming that have been keeping me going. Now I'm hoping this diet I've been on for two weeks can actually do something even after all these years--I mean not just to hold back the symptoms but to undo the ones I have.
I find the crawling exercise has given me new sensations in my lower back-it's also connected arm swinging and striding in just a few days. I am quite ambulatory-what happens though is a certain rigidity and a muscle fatigue. I notice when swimming my kicking loses strength and my hips begin to sink. Any suggestiions?
PS-I've been on the best bet diet for almost 6 months-still working on triggers. I love the book-haven't read it all but it's given me so much already. Thank you Judi and Ann.

My name is Cathy Downie. I teach Gentle Yoga for MS and Similar Conditions. The new DVD Dahn Yoga for MS and Similar Conditions is based on my seminars and my classes with my own experiences and the members experiences and our interaction.
One of the members ordered the DVD on Amazon.com and was sent your book. The MS Recovery Diet. I asked to borrow and thought it was fabulous. I am doing a Seminar on 3-22-08 and will recommend your book to the members. I will also use some of the exercise techniques with the class.
I am always looking for new ways to increase everyone's mobility - range of motion no matter what the original condition is. I use boxing techniques as it gives so many the power within that they didn't even know they had.
As everyone feels better the smiles become more and more and what I can do rather than what I can't do becomes so prevalent in everyone's mind.
It is a joy to come across materials like your book that will truly help others. I find it amazing some of the tools that are out there that no one knows about. This is my mission through the classes and seminars that I share as much as possible, gather as much as I can, and everyone in turn shares with others.
