hi my name is ken , i was diagnosed with ppms in 2003 , it was a steady decline at a rapid rate , i found this book a few months ago and have been trying the diet , the biggest change im going thru right now is giving up fruit , i havent had any now for about 6 weeks but whos counting . the fruit was stopped due to leaky gut syndrome , this has caused its own problems seeing its summer and everthing is ripest , i have been eating tons of raw veg in an effort to stem my bodys need for vitamin c and other essentials . ive noticed a marked decrease in swelling , i have a problem foot that started to swell a couple of years back even b4 the diagnosis , since starting the removal of sugars the symptoms seem to have decreased , my energy level is up 100% i am not sleeping all day . this disease has taken about 3 years to put me in a wheelchair but i am giving it a good try , 6 months of no fruit or sugar also helps you to pinpoint food sensitivites , i seem to be alergic to many things right now as well as the main 5 . i am persisting with this , i have a question to anyone else out there , do you ever feel burning in old injuries , i do but sometimes its less like in the am , it slowly increases thru the day .but its not as pronounced as when i first started .anyways i hope to read some responses.
thanks

hi . those triggers are very
hi . those triggers are very important , stick close to the list as those are like the ten commandments , watch out for dates as they are very high in natural sugar , try dried cranberrys or better yet try almonds on their own , keep a bag in your pocket so you dont get tempted (hopefully almonds agree with you )i eat A lot of wild salmon ,this is the highest in natural omegas and low sat fat , a really important part is the flax oil , cold pressed un refined , i believe it is vital to our healing, stay away from dairy , try some almond milk in your cereal , or hemp milk , very rich in omegas .
good luck

Hmmm, that burning part is
Hmmm, that burning part is interesting! I didn't relate it to anything much, but have been on the diet for 6 weeks, and I've always had a few burning patches here and there, I think it's just that 'fake feeling' stuff from MS. But this week, I had such burning in the palm of my hand. Doesn't sound like much at all, but reading these comments make me stop to think a bit. This was different burning, different from the patches I have, this was more like . . . holding a jalapeno in my bare hand and having that chemical kind of burn feeling from it. You're finding a relationship?? I've been very strict as far as the five main triggers, saturated fats, more good fats, and no refined sugars, but I do eat fruit. The increase in energy is positively out-of-this-world!! I can do things one day, and then again the next!! lol It doesn't wipe me out for a whole week! I have way less leg spasms, although when I've chosen to eat something I shouldn't, I really see how very bad it was before, cause it all just comes back full force. Having such cause and relationship signs sure makes it easier to forego those triggers though!! I just feel so fortunate that I'm at a time in my life where I have not only the time to focus on diet, but also the finances to afford some of these more expensive foods. This week I'm gonna try my hand at making some kind of snack bar with dates, different nuts and seeds, applesauce (unsweetened of course!), many different dried fruits, and I even found some chocolate chips that are okay! Walmart has a whole section of these egg-free, dairy-free, gluten-free foods and that's where I found the chocolate chips. Can't recall exactly what's in them, but what a great fruit/nut bar I'm planning! Wondering if I should add some milled flax seed flour or something, but will let you all what I end up with and if it was at all edible! Good eating to you!
thanks for your
thanks for your encouragement , ive been trying very hard and its rely starting to work , i still get spasms 1x a day usually after lunch , about 1 hr later so i dont think its food related as i am on trhe strict version of this diet , veg and protein (wild salmon ) and non reactive veg'
hang in there everyone and dont give up , my head feels so much better
thanks

Karin
I have had burning in my hands where I normally have tingling. I've been on the diet about 4 months.
Keep going Ken, I've been
Keep going Ken, I've been doing this since '98, and definately have seen the effects of diet on my disease process. I am a total believer, and am now doing this diet (did swank previously), it seems to be helping me overall....not dramatically, but steadily. Good luck!
