I was just diagnosed with MS in February of 2008. I quickly did much research and first came across the Swank diet and then came to the MS Recovery Diet. About a week before starting the MS Recovery Diet, I visited my holistic doctor and with his help had the start of a quick retreat of many symptoms including numbness in entire left side up to my shoulder, right side numbness beginning, many prostate and digestive issues and some right eye blurriness. My recovery progressed as I worked within my holistic doctors regimine of enzymes and supplements as well as the MS Recovery Diet. I'm having some minor backslide this week (numbness in left leg) but I remain positive. I plan to eliminate all suspect foods and then reintroduce eggs and legumes (which I don't suspect as problematic). I plan to keep out all dairy and gluten.
My main issue with the MS Recovery Diet is that I have a very fast metabolism and need to gain weight (I lost about 10 pounds since February). Given that I am a man who is 6'2" and currently weigh about 145 pounds you can understand my dilemna (although many envy it). Any suggestions for foods within the MS Recovery Diet that could help increase my calories are appreciated. I will post further updates.
